There are women and men in these video and at all different ages, which tell me that a lot of people will like this video.
The whole video.
Relationship Between Lyrics and Visual
The video has some relevance to the lyrics
When they talk about playboy there is a typical girl with big boobs and blonde hair outside the playboy mansion
Relationship Between Music and Visual
There is so relationship in the video, when the lyrics say about cutting his hair he then grabs his hair implying that he has cut it.
‘Cut my hair and changed my name’ in the video.
Artist close-ups and star image motifs

You only see Nickelback at the end of the video and even then I would say that’s a mid shot.
Right at the very end of the music video.

Video category

Disjuncture
The video don’t have anything to do with the music.

Why did you choose the text you are analysing?
Because it a very good music video and song. I like the way that they have thought out side the box when making this video.
In what context did you encounter it?
I just tried to think of an interesting music video while going though my iPod and Rockstar by Nickelback came up.
What influence do you think this context might have had on your interpretation of the text?
Well I think it has gave us more ideas on the sort of music video we could do.

Which conventions of the genre do you recognize in the text?
Disjuncture is the genre of this music video because the video has nothing to do with the song.

To what extent does this text stretch the conventions of its genre?
It doesn’t really stretch the convention of the genre.

Where and why does the text depart from the conventions of the genre?
Probably when the act on some of the lyrics so you know what it’s about or when you see Nickelback in concert at the end.
What sort of audience did you feel that the video was aimed at (and how typical was this of the genre/style of music)?
Guessing that the video was aimed at people that like listening to Nickelback music. And for me he comes under the category of quite a rocky genre. So he would be targeting people that like rock music.
What sort of person does it assume you are?
Well if I am watching a Nickelback music video guessing a guy that likes Nickelback music.
What responses does the video seem to expect from you?
That a lot of people want the same things in the song and that everyone wants to be the big shot in life
How open to negotiation is your response (are you invited, instructed or coerced to respond in particular ways)?
Yeah I would say that’s it’s an inviting video because the people that are singing it are smiling so it gives you an inviting feeling. (But that’s just me)
Is there any penalty for not responding in the expected ways?
Well if you don’t like the music then you would get bored and therefore not entertained.
How typical do you think this video is of music videos?
Not very because it’s a very unusual video, but a typical rock video would be them at a concert in my eyes with lots of guitars and drums.
