We weren't entirely sure whether the pitch was meant to be for the band or for the video, so we did both.
The song that our band, Saxon Static, will be singing is 'Talk Show Host', originally by Radiohead. The song has a very melancholic (?) feel to it, so we decided to craft that into the backstory of the band as well - that the band is disbanding, and this is one of the last songs on their final album. We think that story matches the lyrics quite well (with one of the reasons they're disbanding being they simply don't want to do it anymore, and the lyrics having certain lines like "I want to be someone else or I'll explode").
The genre of the video, at least right now (and hopefully it won't change), is illustration bordering on amplification. The current idea for the video is an actual talk show host broadcasting his final show before he retires for good, with the band Saxon Static playing their song over the radio whilst he sits and broods / interacts with the other people at the station.
Seeing as the band itself is a cover band of Radiohead, we decided to try and aim at a very similar audience, which we decided is probably young adults aged 16-25, probably students, with a more creative side - so people taking creative courses like art or music, as opposed to ICT or English Literature.
